To further understand the relationship between parenting styles and academic achievement, this study established a chain mediation model, with the aim of providing intervention strategies for quality-oriented education and students with academic difficulties. The study investigated 427 students from grades four to six in cities in the southeast of Zhejiang Province, China. The results indicated that (a) parenting styles correlated with academic achievement; (b) growth mindset and academic self-efficacy respectively played a simple mediating role between parenting styles and academic achievement; and (c) growth mindset and academic self-efficacy also play a chain-mediating role between parenting styles and academic achievement.
