Fri, April 10, 3:45 to 5:15pm PDT (3:45 to 5:15pm PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Poster Hall - Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

This study examines the yearlong scaffolding of AI tools in early childhood teacher preparation, focusing on the pedagogy of culturally responsive teaching (CRT). Beginning in Summer 2024, teacher candidates engage with generative AI tools to enhance CRT practices, from identity exploration to differentiated assessments. Data from surveys, lesson plans, and focus groups reveal shifts in AI self-efficacy and CRT integration. Findings highlight AI’s role in fostering equitable, ethical, and efficient teaching, informing future teacher education. This study aims to refine a replicable AI-supported CRT curriculum to promote equity, inclusivity, and career readiness among preservice teachers.
