The purpose of this study was to equity in music education access through school-level curricular music course offerings in Kentucky middle and high schools. Leveraging data from the Kentucky Center for Education Statistics, I analyzed curricular offerings of band, choir, orchestra, guitar, piano, and general music using descriptive statistics, logistic regression, and Poisson regression. Schools with Title 1 designations, schools serving higher proportions of students receiving free or reduced price lunch, and students serving lower proportions of students of color were less likely to individual music courses, and they were less likely to offer as many types of music courses compared to schools with lower proportions of students receiving free or reduced price lunch.
