Abstract

Teacher well-being is a critical factor influencing educator retention and student outcomes, yet existing measures often overlook the role of colleague support. This study presents the development and validation of a brief, freely accessible scale measuring teachers’ perceptions of colleague support. Drawing on prior research and input from practicing teachers, items were developed through teacher focus groups, two pilot studies, and a Delphi study. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses across diverse national samples demonstrated strong reliability and validity. This new tool offers researchers and practitioners a practical means to assess the social and professional relationships that shape teacher well-being, with implications for school climate, retention, and collaborative professional development.
