Abstract

The design-based research method was used to construct complex learning environment towards developing industrial robot technicians’ skills. Through three cycles, a paralleled environment using AI agent as supportive information, supportive information plus just-in-time information was formed. Results show initial environment effectively facilitates skills transfer and the mastery of problem-solving strategies, while the paralleled environment optimizes its initial effectiveness. Students express positive attitudes toward the use of AI agent. This research improves the effectiveness of industrial robot technicians’ skills training, the adoption of complex learning design theory across diverse national contexts and the further development of this theory.
