Abstract

This study examines how digital capital influences parental involvement in children’s education. Building on Bourdieu’s theory of capital, the research extends on the research, primarily focused on cultural and social capital, by introducing digital capital as an additional resource adapted to the era of digitalization. Based on data from 804 Israeli parents of elementary school children, structural equation modeling revealed that digital capital significantly enhances parental involvement at home and at school. However, it does not affect parent-teacher collaboration or conflictual relationships. Findings highlight that following the digitalization of school-home engagement, there is a need for policies that integrate digital competencies into parental involvement frameworks and models of family-school relations in the digital age.
