This exploratory study used Rasch analysis to examine the psychometric properties of a 35-item instrument administered to graduate students at a research university in a Southeastern state. The person and item reliabilities results showed that the survey items effectively captured the diverse experiences of vicarious racism among graduate students. Principal components analysis of the residuals suggested potential multidimensionality; most items demonstrated an acceptable fit, except for two items. Several item pairs showed evidence of local dependency, indicating possible redundancy. The Wright Map revealed that most items showed appropriate targeting of items to respondents’ experiences. These findings provide initial evidence supporting the measure’s psychometric reliability while highlighting areas for refinement to improve construct clarity and measurement precision.
