Abstract

The paper proposes a pedagogical framework for delivering Arts education in blended and distance learning environments. This framework adapts the Laurillard’s Learning Designer Tool. The adapted tool implementation was evaluated by 19 educators from 5 European countries, who used it to design and deliver 12 undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional development courses in blended and online formats. The results were mostly positive highlighting the tool's usefulness and ease of use, though concerns were raised about its flexibility and adaptability. The tool effectively guided the educators in structuring their courses, developing diverse teaching-learning activities (TLAs) and distinguishing between synchronous and asynchronous activities. It is recommended for novice and pre-service educators, and more beneficial for designing new courses rather than adjusting existing ones.
