Responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action through Relationships

Sun, April 12, 7:45 to 9:15am PDT (7:45 to 9:15am PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Petree D

Abstract

Drawing from learning experiences over a five year federally funded research project, we sought to articulate the reciprocal curricular pathways encountered by over 100 participating educators and their students, respectfully responding to the Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action (2015) and entering into complicated conversations. Reflexive analysis highlighted the possibilities, insights, and challenges of this project. Collectively, Indigenous and non-indigenous educators, partners, and researchers are understanding this to be the task of un/decolonizing and Indigenizing curricular enactment--working alongside each other, learning with, from, and through each other, fostering relation and trust-building.
