Wed, April 8, 9:45 to 11:15am PDT (9:45 to 11:15am PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Petree D

Abstract

This study explores transcultural approaches for cultivating culturally competent communities of character in diverse educational settings. Grounded in emancipatory learning theory, transcultural frameworks, and communicative rationality, the research investigates how educational leaders foster inclusive, transformative learning environments. Using qualitative methods integrating grounded theory, action research, and case studies, the study examined five educational institutions over 18 months through interviews, focus groups, and observations.

Key findings emphasize integrating emancipatory and transcultural approaches into curriculum design, leaders' role in modeling inclusive communication and collaborative decision-making, and addressing resource allocation challenges. The study highlights culturally responsive assessment practices and transcultural leadership's potential in empowering students as ethical change agents.
