Abstract

Vignettes as a research tool are common in research on teacher beliefs and decision making; however, there are currently few validated vignette survey instruments that specifically look at teacher interpersonal attributions of student classroom behavior. This study describes the validation of a vignette survey instrument, the Teachers’ Interpersonal Attributions of Student Behavior (TIASB), intended to measure this construct using a three-part validity analysis: face validity, construct validity, and criterion validity. The face validity analysis found good face validity and relevancy of the measure, and the reliability analysis showed promise of good reliability. Currently in the data collection phase for the next two sources of validity, we look forward to having the full data set to present at the 2025 conference.
