Abstract

Ecopedagogy has various models for teaching students to critically understand the often-hidden politics of why unsustainable environmentally violent actions occur. Paulo Friere’s scholarship is foundational to ecopedagogical work, embracing his argument for needing unceasing reinvention to meaningfully contextualize education. This includes, but far from limited to, reinventing ecopedagogies with postdigitalism as the lines between our digital and “real world” lives increasingly are increasingly blurred. This paper discusses the interdependence, possibilities, and challenges between ecopedagogical and postdigital work to (re)construct education for praxis towards globally all-inclusive socio-environmental justice and planetary sustainability, including and beyond the anthroposphere.
