Abstract

The study aimed to explore the experiences of 50 evacuated parents of K-12 children during a displacement process amid an ongoing security crisis in rural communities in the northern periphery of Israel. A deductive thematic analysis of the interviews was conducted based on Bronfenbrenner's bioecological model. The findings revealed that the microsystems in rural communities underwent significant changes with the introduction of a hotel or accommodation system. At the macrosystems level, there has been a dramatic shift in personal and national security, along with a heightened negative perception of rural and peripheral areas. This study contributes to the understanding of parenting in isolated and remote environments during routine periods, as well as the coping strategies of displaced parents during emergencies.
