Abstract

This study investigated the performance of propensity score-based multidimensional graded item response theory in examining items’ parameters and measurement invariance after estimating propensity scores and average treatment effect weights using illustrative datasets that adopted the Personal and Social Responsibility Questionnaire (PSRQ) among high school and university students. The results of PS showed an acceptable distribution of PS and ATE weights, as well as a good balance of covariates. The findings of GR-MIRT results showed that a bi-factor two-factor model had the best fit. Most of the items had acceptable discrimination and difficulty parameters, supported by acceptable item characteristic curves and trace lines. The PSRQ provided a precise estimate of the measured construct, as indicated by the test information function.
