Abstract

Women of Color (WoC) methodologies offer humanizing research practices to unapologetically center the stories and experiences of communities of Color. Through a pláticas-testimonios methodology, this research takes a WoC feminist and intergenerational approach to illuminate the educational testimonios of Latina educators. We extend on a conceptualization of countermoves and countermovements, in conjunctions with and the product of cultural choques–collisions, to highlight how the experiences of Latinas inform their desire to engage in a humanizing educational praxis centered in cariño–care, and how countermovements emerge through the methodological process of pláticas-testimonios. A pláticas-testimonios methodology thus affords intergenerational revelations and cariño to emerge as a countermovement for humanizing education research.
