Abstract

This study reports partial findings from a meta-analysis that synthesizes 639 effect sizes from 88 primary studies to examine the relationships between digital parenting and children’s digital well-being. The present study particularly focuses on the associations between various forms of digital parenting and children’s positive digital well-being outcomes and the moderators of these relationships. The analysis revealed a stronger relationship between positive parental mediation and children’s positive digital well-being as compared to negative mediation and co-use. In addition, the associations between digital parenting and children’s positive digital well-being are moderated by children’s sex, geographical region, and data sources, but surprisingly not by children’s age. Implications for practices and future research are discussed.
