Abstract

This study examines thematic trends in educational research using Structural Topic Modeling on 1,704 articles published between 2015 and 2025 in AERJ, AERA Open, and Educational Researcher. Five main themes emerged: educational practice and implementation, student progression and college access, equity and justice in school settings, early childhood development and well-being, and teacher career dynamics. The results show a decline in studies on educational practice and a growing focus on equity, justice, and teacher career issues. Topics related to student progression and early learning remained steady. These findings highlight shifts in research priorities within AERA journals and provide valuable insights for scholars, editors, and policy stakeholders seeking to align future research with the evolving intellectual landscape of the field.
