Abstract

This paper examines how urban districts in the southeastern U.S. advance educational equity in their strategic planning documents with a particular focus on teacher recruitment, development, and retention practices. Equitable teacher recruitment, development, and retention practices are paramount to creating equitable educational opportunity for students. We analyze the extent to which the districts address teacher recruitment and retention in their planning documents to better pursue equity in and through these policy arenas.
