Abstract

Abstract: This study explored the relative contribution and psychological mechanisms of parental cohesion's influence on aggression in Chinese adolescents. The participants (n = 34463) were primary and secondary school students (49.7% male) aged nine to nineteen years from Southwest China. The results showed that (1) parental cohesion has a significant negative effect on adolescent aggression; (2) peer relationship and academic stress play the separate and chain mediating role between adolescent parental cohesion and aggression; and (3) there is a gender difference in chain mediation model. This study explores the factors and influencing mechanisms of adolescent aggression, and provides the empirical evidence from multiple perspectives for the prevention and intervention of adolescent aggression.
