Leadership Development from an Intercultural Lens: Three Examples of Education Efforts that Cross Global Borders

Abstract

The paper shares three different case studies on leadership development that cross international borders. The introductory section lays out various frameworks for internationalization in higher education. The second section describes a faculty developed and led experience in Finland, for doctoral students in an educational leadership program. This experience included an international doctoral student seminar in which American and Finnish students shared their doctoral research topics. The third section looks at a research collaboration between an American and European educational leadership professor looking at how some local contextual issues and dilemmas faced by school administrators in the delivery of special education services in Azerbaijan will be interpreted in the interplay of universality of ideas and specificity of the context.
