In her presentation, Presenter #1 [we need to anonymize the name] will introduce the Journal of Contemplative Inquiry and Holistic Education, a new academic journal dedicated to advancing education rooted in inner transformation, holistic development, and planetary healing. She will speak to the journal’s mission, scope, and vision, and invite the scholarly community to participate in this evolving space of inquiry, connection, and compassionate action.
Presenter #1 will frame the journal as a timely response to the global crises we face today, violence, ecological collapse, spiritual alienation, and deepening social inequalities, and emphasize that healing must begin within. The journal provides a scholarly platform for those dedicated to reimagining education as more than just knowledge acquisition, but as a profound endeavor of awakening consciousness, fostering love, and living in harmony with one another and with the Earth.
The Journal of Contemplative Inquiry and Holistic Education is grounded in the belief that contemplative practices, such as mindfulness, meditation, qigong, yoga, deep listening, storytelling, the arts, and Indigenous ritual, are essential to nurturing a compassionate, creative, and wise citizenry. Presenter #1 will highlight how the journal integrates these practices with rigorous scholarship, bridging critical pedagogy and spiritual inquiry, Eastern philosophies and Indigenous wisdom, personal transformation and collective liberation.
She will outline the journal’s commitment to diverse voices and epistemologies. Submissions are welcomed in multiple formats, including traditional research articles, autoethnographies, reflection essays, classroom narratives, interviews with elders or educators, poetry, and arts-based inquiry. In doing so, the journal expands what counts as academic knowledge and centers lived, embodied, and relational ways of knowing.
In her talk, Presenter #1 will also reflect on the unique role of educators as “wisdom workers of love.” She will emphasize the journal’s invitation to educators, scholars, and spiritual practitioners to share their own journeys of integrating contemplative practices into pedagogy and leadership, and to build a field of education that fosters wholeness, justice, and peace.
The journal is envisioned as a collaborative space aligned with the values of the Holistic Education SIG at AERA, the Contemplative Inquiry and Holistic Education SIG at CIES, and global movements for healing-centered, decolonizing, and spiritually integrated education. Presenter #1 will share the rationale, editorial vision, and future goals of the journal and invite participation from the audience as contributors, reviewers, or co-creators of a living, loving scholarly community.
In closing, Presenter #1 will extend a heartfelt invitation to join this transformative endeavor: to co-create a journal that brings light and hope to education, honors inner wisdom, and helps us move together toward a more compassionate and awakened world.
