Wed, April 8, 9:45 to 11:15am PDT (9:45 to 11:15am PDT), JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, Floor: Gold Level, Gold 1

Abstract

This Narrative Self-Study of Teacher Education Practice (S-STEP) project arose out of two educators’ experiences in educational settings. Using the framework provided by Clandinin and Connolly (2004), Pinnegar and Hamilton (2011), and LaBoskey (2004) we inquired into experiences, causing us to question who we were as educators and our places on the educational landscape. We pull forward four threads that show a shared progression. Beginning with our sense of identity as educators and how they are called into question because of the next thread, wounding events(s) that caused us to take a deep look at ourselves. The third thread is around introspection and insecurity. This leads to the final thread of unpacking the event(s) in order to find a way forward.
