Faculty of Color Engaging in Authentic Care in Mentoring in STEM Summer Research Internships

Abstract

Drawing from interviews with faculty mentors of undergraduate students, we explore how mentors engage authentic mentoring practices with students participating in STEM summer research programs. Mentors used their own mentoring experiences to inform their mentoring practices, sought to bridge the personal and professional, and intentionally created caring environments.
