Fri, April 10, 9:45 to 11:15am PDT (9:45 to 11:15am PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Poster Hall - Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

This study examined how academic stress affects academic self-efficacy among Chinese middle school students (N=983), focusing on academic resilience as a mediator. Data collected via validated questionnaires were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results showed academic stress negatively impacted both academic self-efficacy and academic resilience. Academic resilience positively influenced self-efficacy and partially mediated the negative effect of stress on self-efficacy. These findings highlight the detrimental role of academic stress and the protective, mediating function of resilience. Implications suggest reducing academic stress and fostering resilience are crucial for improving students'academic outcomes.
