Abstract

Issues of diversity, equity, and accessibility continue to permeate postsecondary arts education curricula. The Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP) administers a multi-institution online alumni survey designed to obtain knowledge about arts education. In this study, the authors utilize the 2022 SNAAP data to explore trends across graduation year cohorts regarding diversity-related and community-based curricular experiences for alumni who majored in music during their time at higher education institutions. Chi-square analyses suggest that there is an overall increase across cohorts for participating in diversity-related curricular activities. The strongest trends were increases in learning about artistic practices from different cultural backgrounds and in learning about matters of racial justice and social equity.
