Thu, April 9, 2:15 to 3:45pm PDT (2:15 to 3:45pm PDT), JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, Floor: Ground Floor, Gold 4

Abstract

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training has become essential for health professionals, yet the scope, effectiveness, and impact of such efforts remain unclear. This scoping review synthesizes research on DEI training for practicing health professionals, following the PRISMA-ScR framework. Database searches 7,139 articles, with 91 meeting inclusion criteria. This review identifies common training formats, conceptual models, and reported outcomes. Findings reveal a strong emphasis on cultural competency, but limited focus on structural inequities and sexual identity. Reported outcomes indicate generally positive shifts in attitudes and knowledge. This review highlight strengths and critical gaps in current DEI training practices, offering actionable insights to inform future educational strategies, curriculum development, and policy initiatives aimed at advancing equity in healthcare.
