Abstract

This study explored the perceptions that influence faculty adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), focusing on perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and attitudes toward the behavioral intention to adopt AI, as described in the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Multiple regression analysis revealed that both perceived usefulness and attitudes toward AI are significant and strong predictors of faculty members' behavioral intention to adopt AI in teaching and research. Attitudes toward AI were the most significant predictor, while perceived ease of use was the least significant predictor of intention. The results highlight the crucial role of faculty attitudes and perceived usefulness in fostering AI adoption at HBCUs.
