Fri, April 10, 7:45 to 9:15am PDT (7:45 to 9:15am PDT), JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, Floor: Ground Floor, Gold 2

Abstract

This study describes the collaborative course design for caregivers of multilingual learners (MLs) among diverse groups of stakeholders. This course aims to enhance family engagement and support and empower caregivers of MLs, such as parents and relatives. We address the research question: How did diverse stakeholders co-design an online course for families of MLs? Our findings show how insights from teachers, families, advisory council members, districts, and researchers shaped elements of the course to respond to the caregivers’ needs and augment their participation in their children’s multilingual development.
