This study aimed to identify the facilitators and barriers to applying TPSR and to explore the evolution of elementary physical education teachers' pedagogical strategies throughout the implementation process. Data were collected between March 18 and May 10, 2024, through three semi-structured interviews with two certified female physical education teachers, field observation, and the teachers’ reflective journals. Thematic analysis identified three facilitators, along with the three barriers such as the difficulty adapting TPSR to young learners. The study also identified progression of teachers’ pedagogical strategies—such as leveraging more opportunities to promote students’ responsible behavior and encouraging student ownership of learning. The findings will inform tailored professional development to better support physical education teachers to teach effectively at lower elementary level.
