Sat, April 11, 7:45 to 9:15am PDT (7:45 to 9:15am PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Poster Hall - Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

One way to help prepare preservice teachers to lead IEP meetings is having them participate in simulated IEP meetings. The purpose of this study is to systematically review research on simulated IEP meetings to (a) establish the overall effectiveness of simulated IEP meetings as a tool for preservice teachers and (b) identify characteristics across simulated IEP meetings. Nine articles were identified for inclusion in this systematic review, and data was extracted for a total of 12 different variables. Findings indicate that simulated IEP meetings are beneficial to preservice teachers and that simulated IEP meetings can be adapted to the needs of the participants. A sequential guide for those who wish to implement their own simulated IEP meeting is developed.
