This qualitative study examines the experiences of Black women principals in K-12 public schools across the Mid-Atlantic region. Using Black Feminist Epistemology as a theoretical framework, semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight Black women principals. Thematic analysis revealed that participants pursued principalship as a pathway to becoming changemakers. Findings indicate these leaders embody othermothering practices, expressing ethics of care while navigating systemic challenges and multiple role expectations. Participants identified the magnitude of responsibilities as their primary challenge while demonstrating exceptional ability to manage these demands. This research elevates underrepresented voices in educational leadership literature and highlights how Black women principals lead through community-building and transformative practices rooted in care, resistance, and advocacy.
