Inclusion as Movement within a Zone of Contestation: Critiquing Static Notions of Inclusion

Sat, April 11, 7:45 to 9:15am PDT (7:45 to 9:15am PDT), JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, Floor: Ground Floor, Gold 2

Abstract

The paper is part of a larger dissertation studying inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) program students' experiences of community. The study critiques notions of inclusion that are static and offers Nail's (2016) philosophy of movement to provide dynamism to conceptualizations of community. The study used Braun and Clarke's (2006; 2012; 2019; 2021) reflexive thematic analysis as the analytical method and Kerschbaum and Price's (2017) approach of a disability-centered interview. The study provides a novel theoretical framework grounded in the empirical findings of the study.
