Co-Intelligent Communities of Practice: Cultivating Reflective Pedagogy in Higher Education

Abstract

This project explores Co-Intelligent Communities of Practice (CICoP) in higher education, addressing the evolving landscape of professional development amidst technological advancements. We investigate how integrating an AI-powered "Question Bot" within the VEO platform can catalyse reflective practices and foster co-intelligent communities among educators from different disciplines. The research aims to examine the characteristics and developmental trajectory of such a community, focusing on interdisciplinary boundary crossing and the bot's impact on mediating pedagogical reflection. Employing a collaborative action research framework, we analyse video-recorded teaching sessions and subsequent reflective dialogues. Our findings reveal that the AI bot significantly enhances individual and interdisciplinary reflection, fostering deeper, more objective insights and demonstrating a promising model for technology-enhanced professional development.
