Abstract

This study evaluated the Quality Parenting Initiative, a 6-week culturally adapted online parenting program, using a mixed-methods randomized controlled trial. 95 parents (intervention n = 43; control n = 52) completed both pre- and post-tests. Repeated-measures ANOVA showed significant improvements in parental self-efficacy and responsive behaviors in the intervention group, with no significant changes in children’s social-emotional outcomes. Thematic analysis of qualitative data revealed positive shifts in parenting beliefs, increased awareness of the value of children’s play, and enhanced parent-child interaction. Findings suggest that QPI effectively enhances parenting competencies, while child-level impacts may require longer observation. This study provides valuable empirical evidence for how and why parenting interventions lead to change.
