Staff Reflections on Learning and Development through Coach Training

Abstract

The purpose of this mixed method study is to understand how trained success coaches reflect on what they learned from InsideTrack, a coaching methodology, in their work in educational settings. This study draws on survey data from 55 trained coaches and 14 semi-structured interviews to understand how trained student coaches at various institutions in the United States perceive how the coaching methodology impacts their work. The findings indicate that staff experienced personal growth in work and in their personal lives; learned to listen closely to students; and appreciated having a consistent approach to student meetings that met varied needs.
