This multi-case qualitative study examined the role of reciprocity among stakeholder groups who provide services to families and their children with immigrant experiences. Based on a larger study, the authors highlight the interview and photo data related to 17 education and community organization personnel from Alberta and Ontario, Canada and the Northeast, US. Using constructivist grounded theory, the authors build on a concept of reciprocity that troubles the idea of helping professions and relationship-building with vulnerable communities. This poster presentation will consider the dialogic aspect of the photo data that enabled participants to perceive reciprocity in different ways. These perspectives are taken up in a discussion that addresses the methodological tensions surrounding reciprocity and building trust with participants.
