Although scholars have championed the use of Hip Hop aesthetics in education (Love, 2016; Petchauer, 2015), few examples exist of these aesthetics applied in practice without relying on Hip Hop texts. This album contributes to this gap by sharing experiences of using Hip Hop aesthetics without Hip Hop texts through ten hosted cypher sessions with 16 Chicanx middle school students who lacked an affinity for Hip Hop. We expand the scholarship on Hip Hop aesthetics by introducing hosting and flyer-making as pedagogical practices and aim to further conceptualize Hip Hop aesthetics, Hip Hop Pedagogy, and the broader field of Hip Hop Based Education.
