Thinking with McKittrick in Educational Inquiry

Abstract

Drawing on the concepts and aesthetics embedded within Katherine McKittrick’s (2020) book Dear Science, this paper explores the possibilities of reimagining educational research methodology as philosophically pedagogical. Presented as a letter to educational research, we invite researchers to reframe educational research as educational inquiry. Our conceptual piece argues that thinking with research pursuits rather than with objectives (Muhammad, 2023) creates flexibility in the researching-teaching-learning process, encouraging researchers-teachers-learners to follow curiosities rather than feeling pressured to achieve objectives established before the research (event) begins.
