Abstract

This study examines how employment support programs in vocational high schools influence labor market outcomes for graduates who do not pursue higher education. Using data from the Korean Education and Employment Panel II (KEEP II) and applying a multilevel modeling, the analysis finds that these programs have positive effects on income and satisfaction with the work environment, but no significant impact on professional development. Additional analyses comparing two types of vocational high schools reveal that graduates from specialized vocational high schools benefit more from the program than their peers from Meister high schools. Based on this empirical evidence, the study discusses how school-based employment support can help socially disadvantaged students who do not go to college transition into better employment.
