As part of our recent systemic literature review on bilingual special education, we examine the focus of the research in bilingual speech and language pathology conducted from 2000-June 2024. Specifically, we analyzed the theories and paradigms that researchers employed related to bilingualism and speech and language to better understand the mindsets and focus of this research. We also examined the studies for the community members involved in the research to grow our understanding of the ways we are collaborating within the field and with families. We hope that by examining the literature, we might support practice and ideological preparation that approaches service provision from a strengths-based collaborative mindset.
