This methodological paper reports a case of using multiple linear regression with mixed data to develop theory about early career alternatively licensed teachers’ (N=326) commitment to continue teaching. A fully mixed, equal status concurrent design is used to develop a predictive model of alternatively licensed teachers’ commitment to continue teaching. The instrument for the study is an electronic survey, which includes the full 58-item FIT-Choice scale, five self-rating items, an open-ended question, and four demographics questions. Qualitative data are quantitized and combined with quantitative data to create two models, which are compared and the process used to develop them is discussed.
