Abstract

Emerging researchers interested in critical and/or Indigenous frameworks may be drawn to the evolving landscape of qualitative research that includes interpretivist methodologies like case studies. Through a learning community in a third space, we held biweekly dialogues for a year during dissertation planning. As a diverse group of emerging researchers, we exemplify the confluences and messy points of engaging case study research methodologies and critical and/or Indigenous research frameworks. Each scholar distinctly created their research studies rooted in their positionality and context. All studies assume critical frames to shape the aims of the scholarship, and yet they vary in the extent to which they embrace and completely resist case study methodology.
