Abstract

Social media are informal learning spaces for LGBTQ. Social media are digital intersectional counterspaces for Latine/x LGBTQIA+ emerging adults, validating intersecting experiences. However, there is limited knowledge on how Latine LGBTQIA+ individuals use social media for harm reduction education. We analyzed data collected from interviews with eight queer Latine/x college students using a reflexive thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006; 2021) to answer our RQ: How is social media a supplemental tool for harm reduction education among Latine/x queer young adults? Three major themes were constructed from our analysis utilizing an intersectional lens. Findings can help researchers better understand alternative forms of harm reduction education among queer Latine/x youth.
