Abstract

How do non-formal educators use artificial intelligence (AI) in environmental education (EE), if at all? We conducted a nationwide survey examining educators’ adoption and application of AI in EE. Preliminary results indicate that most non-formal environmental educators were still in the early stages of adoption, with many expressing reluctance to use AI due to environmental and ethical concerns. For those who have used AI in EE, they reported using a variety of AI tools in different ways to support teaching and learning. We also discuss the implications of these findings for professional development and future research in EE.
