This study tested the latent profiles of interests in science, confidence in science, and values of science. In addition, a series of hierarchical mixed-effects models was employed to examine the influence of student-level and school-level factors on 8th-grade students’ interests in science, confidence in science, and values of science. The findings suggest that student-level characteristics play a more dominant role. Male students reported higher interest and confidence in science, whereas female students demonstrated a greater perceived value of science. In addition, Asian students exhibited a higher perceived value of science compared to other racial groups. SES and parents’ highest education level have a statistically significant correlation with students’ perceived value of science.
