Abstract

This study presents the Awareness, Advocacy, and Activism (AAA) Continuum model (Author 1, 2021), a framework designed to support STEM teacher educators and supervisors in promoting culturally responsive pedagogies among incoming teachers. The AAA Model serves as a framework and suggests a progressive system where awareness informs advocacy, and advocacy evolves into activism, with ongoing awareness development throughout. By utilizing this model, STEM educators can foster preservice teachers to facilitate more socially just classrooms. The AAA Model addresses the need for high-quality STEM integration in K-12 classrooms while mitigating inequitable access to quality STEM education faced by students from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Findings reveal that supervision guided by the AAA Model offers a promising approach to promoting social justice in STEM education.
