This study evaluated the validity of the Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction (BPNS) scale for students with disability accommodations in a HyFlex instructional environment. Using survey data from undergraduate students taught in HyFlex settings, we conducted exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses and tested for differential item functioning (DIF) using ordinal logistic regression. Results indicated good construct validity overall and no significant DIF between students with (SwA) and without disability accommodation (SwoA), suggesting measurement invariance. However, SwA reported lower satisfaction across all BPNS subscales. These findings support the BPNS scale’s use with SwA in a HyFlex setting but highlight the need for targeted pedagogical strategies to enhance SwA’s basic psychological need satisfaction in HyFlex environments.
