Abstract

Rural female teachers' leadership is of great significance for strengthening the rural teaching workforce and promoting equitable educational development. A survey analysis of 781 rural female teachers in relatively underdeveloped regions in China revealed that: (1) Rural female teachers' leadership can significantly and positively predict their professional development; (2) Rural female teachers' leadership positively influences their professional development through the partial mediating effects of teacher collaboration and teacher self-efficacy; (3) Teacher collaboration and teacher self-efficacy play a chained mediating role between rural female teachers' leadership and their professional development. It is necessary to provide more opportunities for rural female teachers to participate in decision-making and management, and enhance their leadership awareness and competence to foster their professional development.
