Abstract

This moderation systematic and meta-analytic review investigated the cognitive and language profiles of native Arabic individuals with reading difficulties (RD) based on 38 studies. Effect sizes of Hedges’ g were indexed to the group differences between RD and age-matched typically developing peers on language and cognitive measures. Results suggested that Arabian RD demonstrated significant deficits in cognitive-related domains. Domain-level and subdomain-level moderation revealed variability, supporting the Multiple Deficit Model. No publication bias was detected. Findings highlight the heterogeneity of RD profiles and the importance of multidimensional assessment.
