Abstract

We have seen Higher Education’s push for AI in pedagogical and mundane utilization, and its disconnect from the learning/schooling engagement from teacher education faculty and their students. Thus, the implications for AI in education and the need to prepare teachers have become paramount. This exploratory study aims to understand how faculty see the role of AI in education, its relevance for preparing, and fostering critical perspectives and ethical awareness among future educators. The findings underscore the belief among faculty that AI literacy should be integrated into teacher training to equip future teachers to think critically and understand the ethical dimensions of AI. From this exploratory investigation, we see the need to continue facilitating learning and experiential spaces with faculty.
